New industry funded studies have suggested that the antidepressant flibanserin, may soon be described as the female version of Viagra that can help enhance libido in women with low sex drives. The research compiled was the results of several studies used to find treatment for women with low libido.
Flibanserin was a poor antidepressant according to researchers, but users noticed while using it that it increased libido. Therefore urging researchers to study the drug for sexual enhancement use. Researchers suggested that 9-23% of study subjects suffered from some sort of low sex drive or other sexual disorder causing little to no sexual desire. Researchers noted that daily doses of flibanserin significantly improved symptoms and hope that the findings will influence the production of this drug as a female specific version of Viagra.
